Job summary

Cross Country Nurses is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team on a 26-week travel assignment in California. You will prepare instruments, maintain sterile technique, and pass instruments during procedures. Rotating 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week, with start ASAP.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal, structured program in Surgical Technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Tech.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates surgeon and team needs by preparing and passing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Prepares the surgical field and verifies materials and equipment are available and functioning.
• Maintains sterile technique and communicates breaks in technique or unsafe patient situations.
• Performs surgical counts of sharps, small items, instruments, and sponges with the circulating nurse.
• Handles specimens and medications according to established procedures.
• Provides patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs.
• Supports case setup, intraoperative patient care, and room cleaning after procedures.
• Communicates effectively with the surgical team and participates in continuing education.
