Job summary

NurseStar Medical Partners LLC in Grants, NM is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team for a 13-week contract. You will prepare the OR, maintain sterile technique, pass instruments, and assist with patient positioning under the surgeon's direction.

Qualifications

• Formal education in sterile processing preferred; must maintain current knowledge of best practices in sterile technique and processing.
• Previous experience in an operating room or surgical setting preferred.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, surgical procedures, and aseptic technique.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a small hospital environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic/sterile technique throughout all cases.
• Perform surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving.
• Set up sterile tables, Mayo stands, and back tables with required instrumentation.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and pass instruments, supplies, and medications as needed.
• Perform accurate counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the circulating nurse.
