Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in New Orleans, LA. The OR RN will prepare the OR, assist in surgeries, and ensure patient safety in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

The role requires an OR RN with 1 year of experience, valid RN license, and current BLS. Preferred certifications such as ACLS/PALS or CNOR enhance eligibility. Competitive benefits and a travel-friendly environment are offered.

Qualifications

• One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring required instruments and sterile supplies are ready
• Assists in patient positioning for surgery and ensures safety and comfort
• Maintains a sterile field and adheres to infection control protocols
• Anticipates surgical team needs and provides instruments and supplies promptly
• Monitors patient condition during surgery and notifies the surgeon of changes
• Handles instruments, sterilization, and disposal per protocols
• Documents patient care in the perioperative setting accurately
• Participates in handoff communication pre- and post-operatively
• Cleans and restocks the OR between cases per turnover protocols
• Collaborates with the team to ensure policy compliance
• Follows PPE and infection prevention procedures
• Performs other duties within scope of practice
