Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room to join our team. This position involves working in a fast-paced surgical environment, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care during operative procedures.

Shift Details

• Days: Monday to Friday, 3x12 hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend Requirements: AS NEEDED, every 4th weekend; Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, Monday
• On Call Requirements: None, although if preferred, accommodations for call can be discussed
• Holiday Rotation: Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays

Unit Information

• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• Bed Size: 16
• Average Caseload: 35-50 cases per day, with a turnaround expectation of less than 20 minutes
• Special Equipment: 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and primarily Synthes or Stryker for orthopedic trauma
• Operating Rooms: 16 ORs, typically running 12-14
• Service Lines: Cardiac/PV, Neuro, orthopedics (primarily trauma), robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, and transplants
• Other: Travel may be required across multiple locations within the region.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Assisting in operative procedures with a focus on patient safety and comfort
• Circulating in the operating room as required
• Maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures
• Collaborating with surgical teams to provide the best patient outcomes

Qualifications

• 24 months of current operating room experience is required
• Circulating and operating room experience is mandatory
• Scrub experience is highly preferred
• Experience in General Surgery, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases is required
• Additional experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, and ENT is highly preferred
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record systems within the past 3 years is required
• Trauma Level I experience is preferred; Trauma Level II experience is required
• Travelers must have completed a travel assignment within the last 15 months

Licensure and Certifications

• Active Iowa/IA nursing license or compact/multistate license at the time of submission is required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required
