Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Houston, Texas. The position requires 1–2 years of acute care experience in circulating, scrub, or RN first assistant roles, with a 13-week assignment and 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians and staff pre- and post-surgery, patient education, and instrument handling. Competitive benefits and travel stipends may apply.

Qualifications

• BLS certification; 1 year of additional certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions to treatment.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' family members and operating team.
• Ensure that the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs.
• Assist with instrument handling and prep for procedures (Scrub).
• Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients.
