Job summary

GHR Healthcare seeks an Oncology Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment on a medical-surgical oncology unit in Wheeling, West Virginia. The role emphasizes acute-care nursing care for adults undergoing cancer treatment and includes day shifts and weekend coverage.

Candidates must have WV RN eligibility, at least 1 year of oncology/med-surg experience, and BLS. Travel nurses will document in Allscripts and adhere to infection-control, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible to practice in West Virginia.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience, preferably oncology or medical-surgical.
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and patient-education skills.
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care in an acute-care setting.
• Willingness to work 12-hour day shifts and weekends.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adults receiving oncology treatments.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and responses in Allscripts.
• Follow infection prevention, patient-safety, quality, and nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments, monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
• Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments and escalate concerns.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, APPs, therapists, and nurses.
• Support symptom management, pain control, nutrition, mobility, and psychosocial needs.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Document nursing care and patient responses in the charting system.
