Job summary

TotalMed Allied is seeking a travel Occupational Therapist for an assignment in Macomb, Illinois. This 13-week travel position involves 35 hours per week with seven-hour shifts during daytime hours.

The OT will evaluate patients, develop plans of care, and support discharge planning within an acute care setting. Requirements include 1 year of OT experience (6 months may be considered), BLS and NBCOT-OTR with state licensure, and the ability to stand, walk, and perform necessary physical tasks.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of OT experience required; 1 year preferred, 6 months may be considered for exceptional candidates.
• Must hold BLS and NBCOT-OTR with state licensure.
• OTs must be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend/lean or stoop as needed.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Review medical history and assess functional abilities.
• Develop and implement a plan of care with specific goals.
• Educate patients, families and employers on accommodations and care.
• Evaluate home/work environments and suggest improvements.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) for an immediate travel opening in Macomb, IL. OT should have 1 year of experience; for an exceptional candidate with an appropriate background, 6 months of experience may be accepted. Read below for additional requirements.As an OT, you will be responsible for the evaluation and development of a plan of care for a variety of patients needing to improve, regain and develop skills needed for daily life. You will work in disabled, ill or injured patient populations in the acute care setting.

Tasks

• Review patients' medical history, ask the patients questions, and observe them doing tasks.
• Evaluate a patient's condition and needs.
• Develop a treatment plan for patients, identifying specific goals and the types of activities that will be used to help the patient work toward those goals.
• Help people with various disabilities perform different tasks.
• Evaluate a patient's home or workplace and, on the basis of the patient's health needs, identify potential improvements.
• Educate a patient's family and employer about how to accommodate and care for the patient.
• Recommend special equipment and instruct patients on how to use that equipment.
• Assess and record patient's activities and progress for patient evaluations, for billing, and for reporting to physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation following state and/or insurance guidelines.

Requirements

RequirementsMust have 6 months of experience; however, new grads are encouraged to apply. Must have BLS and NBCOT-OTR National Certification with state-specific licensing. Occupational Therapists should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty. OTs must have a sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.

Requirements*: BLS, NBCOT (OTR), 2 Years* Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Pay package is based on 7 hour shifts and 35.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
