TotalMed Allied is seeking a travel Occupational Therapist for a 13-week assignment in Edgewater, Maryland. The OT will evaluate patients, develop care plans, and support skill development for daily living in an acute care setting.

The role requires 6 months of experience (6 months accepted for exceptional candidates), BLS and NBCOT-OTR with state licensing, and the ability to stand/walk long periods. Additional details cover documentation and patient education responsibilities.

TotalMed Allied is seeking a travel Occupational Therapist for a travel job in Edgewater, Maryland.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) for an immediate travel opening in Edgewater, MD. OT should have 1 year of experience; for an exceptional candidate with an appropriate background, 6 months of experience may be accepted. Read below for additional requirements. As an OT, you will be responsible for the evaluation and development of a plan of care for a variety of patients needing to improve, regain and develop skills needed for daily life. You will work in disabled, ill or injured patient populations in the acute care setting.

Tasks

• Review patients' medical history, ask the patients questions, and observe them doing tasks.
• Evaluate a patient's condition and needs.
• Develop a treatment plan for patients, identifying specific goals and the types of activities that will be used to help the patient work toward those goals.
• Help people with various disabilities perform different tasks.
• Evaluate a patient's home or workplace and, on the basis of the patient's health needs, identify potential improvements.
• Educate a patient's family and employer about how to accommodate and care for the patient.
• Recommend special equipment and instruct patients on how to use that equipment.
• Assess and record patient's activities and progress for patient evaluations, for billing, and for reporting to physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation following state and/or insurance guidelines.

Requirements

• Must have 6 months of experience; however, new grads are encouraged to apply.
• BLS, NBCOT (OTR), 1 Year* Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
• Must have BLS and NBCOT-OTR National Certification with state-specific licensing.
• Occupational Therapists should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty.
• OTs must have a sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
