Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Louisville, Kentucky. The position features a 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts, and travel requirements.

The candidate must have 2+ years acute care experience (3 preferred), BLS and NIHSS, and prior travel experience. Responsibilities include care for trauma and post-surgical patients with step-down capabilities and telemetry as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of short-term acute care experience; 3 years preferred.
• Prior travel experience; first-time travelers are not accepted.
• BLS and NIHSS required.
• Step-down, telemetry, or higher-acuity assignments beyond Med/Surg.
• Comfort providing Med/Surg through step-down care.

Responsibilities

• Ratio: 1:5 for trauma and post-surgical patients.
• Skills include blood administration, wound care, drains, insulin drips as needed.
• Two CNAs per shift; daytime clerical support.
• Floating to mixed-acuity units as required.
• Weekends every other weekend; on-call not required.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of short-term acute care experience; 3 years preferred
• Prior travel experience; first-time travelers are not accepted
• BLS and NIHSS
• Step-down, telemetry, or experience taking higher-acuity patient assignments beyond Med/Surg
• Must be comfortable providing Med/Surg through step-down care

Schedule and patient care

• Ratio: 1:5
• Patients: Trauma and post-surgical patients, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, blunt/penetrating trauma, amputations, and elective procedures
• Skills: Blood administration, skeletal and Buck's traction, JP drains and chest tubes, wound care and wound VACs, heparin drips, high-flow oxygen, stable BiPAP, and possible insulin drips
• Support: Two CNAs per shift; daytime clerical support
• Floating: To mixed-acuity units only
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• On-call: None
