Patient & Nursing Details
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Stroke, heart failure, TIA, sepsis, syncope, AKI, CP, and other general intermediate diagnoses
- RN to patient ratio: 1:4
- LPN to patient ratio: 1:4 (if applicable)
- CNA to patient ratio: 1:9-12
- Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Skills: General care of intermediate patients; NIHSS certification; detecting and escalating neuro changes; hemodynamic drips management (e.g., Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, Nitro, Amio); Telemetry rhythm analysis with back-up from cardiac surveillance; heated hi-flow, TR bands; clean cath
Department Support & Technology
- Support within the Department: CNA duties within scope; Receptionist/HUC; Charge nurse; Phlebotomy; RT 24/7; Hospitalist 24/7; Intensivist 24/7; Telemetry monitoring/tech
- Technology/Equipment: EMR (Encompass/EPIC); IV Pumps (Baxter moving to Alaris in 2026); Med dispensing (Omnicell); Monitors (Philips MX-40s); Unit equipment and specialty beds as needed
