Job Summary

Operating Room (OR) Nurse position available in a Level I trauma center. The role involves circulating or scrubbing in a busy surgical environment with a variety of service lines including Cardiac, Neuro, Orthopedics, Robotics, Gyn, Uro, General, Pediatrics, and Transplants. Candidates will be involved in complex cases utilizing advanced equipment such as Da Vinci robotic systems and neuro navigation technology. The assignment requires flexibility to float across multiple campuses and perform both scrub and circulate duties.

Job Details

Schedule: Rotating shift, 10 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

24 months of current operating room experience; hospital/medical center experience prioritized; circulating or operating room experience required; scrub experience highly preferred; experience in cases including general, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, Trauma, neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular; EPIC electronic medical record system experience within the past 3 years; trauma Level I experience highly preferred; trauma Level II experience required; must have completed a travel assignment within the past 15 months; current Iowa or multistate license required; BLS (AHA) certification required; drivers license document required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases; additional case experience in neurology, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and vascular highly preferred.

Additional Information

The unit operates in a Level I trauma setting with 16 OR suites running from 12 to 14 routinely. Expect case turnovers in less than 20 minutes, with an avg. caseload of 35‑50 cases daily. The role requires weekend on‑call from end of shift Friday until 6:30 am Monday, including 1‑2 of the upcoming Winter holidays. Candidates must have 24 months of current operating room experience with specific skills in scrubbing and circulating.
