Travel Nurse RN – Operating Room

Location: Facility, San Diego, California

Employment Type: Travel

Start Date: 06/29/2026

Duration: 13 weeks

Hours: 36 per week (12‑hour days)

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional.
• Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly.
• Monitor the patient's condition during surgery, document significant changes, and notify the surgeon.
• Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal per protocol.
• Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport in accordance with facility protocols.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
• Participate in handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases.
• Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, following infection control protocols.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

Required Qualifications

• One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN.
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS, PALS, or ENPC certifications.
• OR Nursing Certification (CNOR).
• Other certifications or licenses may be required.
