Duties & Responsibilities

The Oncology RN will care for critically or chronically ill cancer patients, administer chemotherapy, implement new methods of symptom treatment and monitor patients’ progress, and create a supportive environment. Oncology nurses may also specialize in areas such as pediatric hematology/oncology or breast cancer.

• Provide care for cancer patients throughout all stages of their conditions, focusing primarily on the acute phase.
• Assist patients ranging from post‑surgical to near‑terminal in managing their disease and treatment effectively, including chemotherapy administration.
• Educate cancer patients about treatment options, procedures, and disease specifics.
