Job Summary

Labor and Delivery Nurse - Level II in a Level I Trauma Center. This position involves providing care for laboring and preterm pregnant patients, with a focus on circulating and recovering cesarean sections. The role requires confident handling of complex obstetric cases within a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Job Details

• Certification: ACLS, BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program); Education: Willing to wait for license submission; Experience: Minimum 4 years required; Location Requirements: Not specified; Years of Experience: 0 years minimum
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts during days, with 36 hours per week; includes 4 weekend shifts per schedule and first to float + holidays as needed
• Additional Information:
  • Unit supported by 13 charge nurses and is staffed to meet AWHONN standards, with mainly 2:1 patient to nurse ratios depending on acuity and up to 4:1 for Antepartum.
  • Unit includes 18 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum beds, and 14 OB triage beds.
  • Average of 8-10 deliveries per day, totaling approximately 3,223-3,444 per year.
  • Fully equipped ORs for cesarean sections, with the ability to confidently circulate and recover patients post-cesarean.
  • EMR System: Cerner; Fetal Link Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring System.
  • Obstetric patients are transferred to postpartum after delivery.
  • Labor and Delivery is a Level II EQ unit accepting gestations 28 weeks and greater.
  • No scrub necessary, scrubbing is not required for this role.
  • Requires the ability to titrate Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate per protocols.
  • In-house OB hospitalist, 24/7 RT and anesthesia, pharmacy, and RT equipment available.
