Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse in Tacoma, WA for ICU - Intensive Care Unit. This travel RN position requires 12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week, and a 13-week assignment starting 12/14/2026. EPIC is required; neuro and trauma experience is preferred. Must pass DYS test prior to start and be able to float to Sister Hospital if needed.

Certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. The role involves various ICU and ED holding duties with defined nurse-to-patient ratios.

Responsibilities

• Float among ICU, ED Holding, CCU/PCU as needed

• Involves 1:2 ICU ratio, 1:4 PCU/CCU ratios

UNIT: Nurse Float Pool ICU. EPIC is required here. MUST have neuro and trauma exp.

Must pass DYS test prior to start. Will work mostly ED hold area.
Certs Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Experience Required: 2 years experience required. Will take first time traveler with strong ICU and previous float pool experience. Cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and bipap management, invasive line management, ostomy, general drains, traches, chest tubes, lumbar drains, IV medication titration.

RN:
ICU - 1:2
PCU/ACC/CCU - 1:4
ER Holding - Same ratio based on patient's level of care

Patient Types:
Covid Patients
Neuro, Trauma, Medical, Surgical
Sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, DTs, Multi-system failure, spinal injuries, pre/post cath patients (radial approach), general surgery patients, respiratory compromise, CHF, COPD, GSW, stabbings, MVA, strokes, TBI, various back surgeries.

Floating: Neuro/Trauma/Medical/Cardiac ICU, CCU, PCU/ACC, ED Holding, MedSurg Units, Any open surge areas for above units. Traveler could float to Sister Hospital as needed (2.5 miles away) Not common but is a possibility.
