American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a travel assignment in Rapid City, SD. This 39-bed ICU unit handles MICU/SICU/CICU/TICU with 12-hour days and rotating weekends. Strong trauma experience and required certifications are essential.

Expect to cover diverse cardiac, neuro, and multi-system trauma cases, with Epic EMR usage and 1:1 to 1:3 ratios based on patient acuity. Travel experience and dependencies on stipends may apply.

Qualifications

• Active SD nursing license (or compact) required.
• Minimum ICU experience: 2 years (excluding travel) preferred.
• Travel experience with prior assignment required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC certifications.
• Experience with IV meds, hemodynamics, ventilators and proning.
• Prior Impella/IABP/CRRT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 39-bed mixed ICU (MICU/SICU/CICU/TICU) with variable acuity.
• Care for complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro and trauma patients.
• Maintain 1:1 to 1:3 RN-to-patient ratios based on acuity.
• Use Epic EMR for documentation and orders.
• Perform post-op care including CABG/TAVR cases when applicable.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including RTs and intensivists.
• 12-hour day shifts with on/off weekend rotation; floating to Med/Surg occasionally.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong trauma experience and required certifications for a 39-bed mixed ICU assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 39-bed mixed ICU with MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU pods
• Patient population includes complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases
• Diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multi-system trauma
• RN-to-patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3 depending on acuity
• Cardiac cases such as CABG/TAVR (24–48 hrs post-op) experience is preferred
• Use of Epic charting system is required in the ICU
• 12-hour day shifts with weekend rotation every other weekend (not guaranteed)
• Floating to other adult floors may occur if overstaffed, including Medsurg/Tele
• Work with a multidisciplinary support team including CNA, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, midline/IV support, and intensivists
• Orientation includes hospital orientation plus one 12-hour and one 8-hour shift on the ICU unit
• Up to 7 days of time off may be approved, but no RTO during holidays or the first 3 weeks in August
• Scrubs must be navy
• Facility provides free parking

Requirements

• Active SD or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years ICU experience (excluding travel) preferred; 1.5 years ICU experience with significant RN experience outside ICU may be considered
• Must have completed one prior travel assignment; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be obtained before arrival if not already held)
• Experience with Epic EMR required
• Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, ventilator management, proning, and telemetry
• Impella, IABP, and CRRT experience strongly preferred
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Former permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
