Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an MRI Technologist for a 13‑week assignment in a hospital imaging department in Maine. The role requires 2+ years of MRI experience and current ARRT‑MR or ARMRIT certification, with BLS on file.

State license may be required and IV starts experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of MRI experience in a mix of acute and outpatient settings.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ARRT‑MR or ARMRIT certification required.
• State license required if applicable; IV starts experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a single MRI room serving adult and older pediatric patients (10+ years).
• Patients include outpatient, inpatient, ED, ICU, and MedSurg cases; neuro, head/neck/spine, hips, oncology, extremities, abdomen, breast, prostate and some angiograms.
• Average 12–16 patients per day; limit to 2 studies per patient when possible.
• MRI equipment: 1.5 Tesla Philips Ingenia Ambition; EMR Cerner; PACS Agfa.
• No vented, monitored, cardiac, sedated, or pacemaker patients accepted; no floating; rotating 4x10‑hour shifts; no weekend/on‑call.

• Strong communication and multitasking skills with ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Single MRI room serving adult and some older pediatric patients (10+ years)
• Patient population includes outpatient, inpatient, ED, ICU, and MedSurg cases
• Procedures include neuro (stroke), soft tissue injuries, head/neck/spine, hips, oncology, extremities, joints, abdominal, breast, prostate, and some angiograms
• No vented, monitored, cardiac, sedated, or pacemaker patients accepted
• Average of 12‑16 patients per day, limited to no more than 2 studies per patient when possible
• Equipment: 1.5 Tesla Philips Ingenia Ambition MRI scanner
• EMR: Cerner; PACS: Agfa
• No floating required
• 4x10-hour shifts on a rotating Monday‑Thursday/Tuesday‑Friday schedule
• No weekend rotation or on‑call requirements
• Facility closed for major holidays
• First‑time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Candidates must not have prior permanent employment history with the health system
• Radius restrictions apply; candidates must meet minimum distance requirements from the facility
• Support available on‑site includes lead techs in other modalities, manager/supervisor, and rapid response team
• Radiologist on‑site Wednesday and Thursday during business hours; remote reads outside these times
• No dedicated transporter for the department; inpatient staff typically bring patients
• Scrubs must be a solid, professional color with no graphics or logos
• Free on‑site parking available
• First week includes new employee orientation (NEO)
• RTO requests must be approved through the manager
