Job summary

TotalMed Allied is seeking a travel MRI Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Omaha, Nebraska. Shift is 12 hours at night, with a 36-hour workweek and travel employment. Requires ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT, BLS, and 1 year of MRI experience; licensure as required by state.

Duties include imaging accuracy, patient care, and collaboration with radiologists. We offer travel benefits including weekly pay and guaranteed hours as part of TotalMed Allied’s staffing options.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year of MRI experience and ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification with registration when required.
• Must have BLS certification.
• State licensure as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI equipment and ensure image quality for physician interpretation.
• Prepare patients for MRI procedures and ensure safety protocols.
• Follow procedures for patient identification and procedure requests.
• Position patients utilizing immobilization and protective equipment.
• Assist radiologist during procedures; start IVs and administer contrast as directed.
• Evaluate scans for technical quality and label appropriately.
• Operate power injectors for contrast administration.
• Follow safety procedures related to radiation and maintain patient records.
• Understand and use PACS system.

We are looking for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI Tech) for an immediate travel opening in Omaha, NE. The right MRI Tech must have 1 year of experience. Read below for additional requirements.

As an MRI Tech, you will be responsible for the use of magnetic resonance imaging equipment and ensuring that images are accurate and passed on to physicians for medical interpretation. MRI Techs are also responsible for the preparation of and caring for patients undergoing MRI imaging.

Tasks

• Confirm patient identification, review imaging requests and explain imaging procedures to patients providing reassurance and support as required
• Screen patients for MRI safety prior to procedure performance
• Correctly interpret doctors' written instructions
• Position patients for MRI scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff
• Assist radiologist with procedure performance
• Start I.V.s, administer contrast media as directed and per protocol
• Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of exposure and label appropriately
• Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
• Follow safety procedures when working with radiation
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Understand and use the McKesson PACS system

Requirements

Must have 1 year of experience. Must have BLS, ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT National Certification with registration in magnetic resonance imaging, and state-specific licensing when required.

MRI Techs should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty. Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists must have a sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
