Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an MEP Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring installed work meets plans and specifications. You will review shop drawings, analyze constructability, and coordinate with architects, subs, and field staff to keep projects on schedule.

The role emphasizes communication, coordination across trades, and adherence to safety protocols, with opportunities to support bidding and scope development for trade contractors.

Qualifications

• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Experience reading and understanding blueprints.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to project needs.

Responsibilities

• Familiarize with project plans and specifications; review shop drawings and submittals.
• Assess plans for value and constructability; communicate issues to architect.
• Support bid efforts and develop scope for trade contractors.
• Coordinate with superintendent to develop schedules and milestones; review shop drawings and materials.
• Maintain logs for shop drawings, clarifications, changes, and RFIs.
• Prepare and distribute weekly progress reports and meeting minutes.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
