Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Med/Surg-Telemetry Float Pool in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The role covers Med/Surg and Telemetry in an acute care setting with a WV or compact license and 2 years of recent RN experience.

Shifts are 12 hours, days, with a typical schedule of 36 hours per week and regular weekend coverage. Epic EMR is used; telemetry strips must be read and interpreted. First-time travelers are welcome.

Qualifications

• Active WV or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience in acute care.
• Ability to pass a cardiac rhythm/EKG exam.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpreting cardiac strips.
• Live at least 50 miles from facility; no local travelers accepted.
• Submit copy of unexpired Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital float pool covering Med/Surg and Telemetry units.
• Float to units including 6N, 7N, 4N, 5S, 6S and Critical Care.
• Maintain typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6; may be 1:7 with acuity.
• Care for CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, CKD, COPD, ortho and oncology.
• 12-hour shifts; holidays and weekends as part of rotation.
• Use Epic EMR; read and interpret telemetry strips; no drip titration.
• Float assignments determined by unit needs within scope; orientation provided.
• CNAs and 24/7 charge nurse support on unit; 1–2 orientation shifts.
• First-time travelers accepted; WVU Medicine staff may require breaks.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool position in an acute care setting requiring a WV or compact RN license and 2 years of recent experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital float pool covering Med/Surg and Telemetry units
• Float to various units including 6N (36 beds), 7N (29 beds), 4N, 5S, 6S, and Critical Care
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6, may occasionally be 1:7 depending on acuity
• Patient population includes CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology
• 12-hour shifts, primarily worked every other weekend on days (Sat/Sun)
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Care involves basic telemetry monitoring; must be able to read and interpret strips
• Will not be required to titrate drips
• Float assignments determined by unit needs; travelers may be assigned a parent unit and will remain within their scope of practice
• 1-2 shifts of unit orientation with a preceptor provided
• Work environment staffed with CNAs and 24/7 charge nurse presence
• Holiday coverage is required as part of the regular staff rotation
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates with prior employment at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before being considered
