Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for a 13-week travel assignment at a facility in Indianapolis, IN. The MLT will perform routine and moderately complex tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and toxicology, supporting patient care in a fast-paced travel role.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of MLT experience, a valid license where required, and may hold ASCP/AMT/HWE certifications along with current BLS.

Qualifications

  • One year of recent experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician
  • Valid license when required by state regulations
  • ASCP/AMT/HEW/AAB certifications preferred
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, and immunology
  • Prepare and process specimens with accurate labeling and handling
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results by following quality control protocols
  • Follow standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines (AABB, CAP, FDA, CLIA)
  • Support the investigation of transfusion reactions by collecting and preparing necessary samples
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and troubleshoot within scope
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and escalate issues as needed
  • Communicate test results clearly to other healthcare professionals
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines and infection control protocols
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of test results, calibrations, and quality control measures
  • Assist with inventory management, reagent preparation, and stocking lab supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Qualifications:

Summary:

Required Essential Skills:

  • Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
  • Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
