Job summary

Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking a Temp/Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join a hospital-based laboratory team in Batesville, IN. Responsibilities include testing, specimen handling, and reporting results according to protocol.

The ideal candidate has ASCP or AMT certification and at least one year of experience, with flexibility for day and evening shifts and potential weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• ASCP or AMT certification or registration required.
• Minimum of one year of relevant clinical laboratory experience.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, MLS, Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to operate laboratory instrumentation and basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate testing of specimens according to procedures.
• Perform routine phlebotomy while following safety protocols.
• Collect, process, and prepare specimens for testing.
• Coordinate send-out testing including reference labs and specialized analyses.
• Investigate and document unacceptable specimens and pre-analytical issues.
• Review and verify results prior to reporting.
• Report STAT, abnormal, and critical results per policy.
• Perform QC procedures and evaluate QC results.
• Troubleshoot out-of-range QC results and document actions.
• Document troubleshooting and corrective actions.
• Perform instrument maintenance and calibrations as required.
• Label and manage reagents and QC materials.
• Organize daily workload for timely turnaround.
• Maintain supplies and a clean work area.
