Qualifications

• Active certification through ASCP, AMT, HEW or AAB is required.
• Eighteen months of Medical Laboratory Technologist / Technician experience is required.
• A state license may be required.
• Basic grasp of laboratory procedures, including operating equipment and generating reports, is needed.

Responsibilities

• Examine specimens for bacteria, viruses or parasites.
• Measure levels of drugs or other chemicals in the blood to ensure therapeutic ranges.
• Assess chemical content of blood to identify deficiencies or excesses.
• Operate cell counters, cultures, microscopes and related equipment.
• Follow lab protocols for analyzing, interpreting and delivering test results.
