Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for Med/Surg Telemetry night shift in Prescott, AZ. 36 hours/week, 12-hour nights, 7pm–7am, with no on-call. Requires active AZ license, BLS/ACLS, and dysrhythmia proficiency. Possible PCU/East Campus float; 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio, 49-bed unit, Cerner EMR.

Travel assignment starts 01/13/2026 for 13 weeks with paid stipends, per diem options, and benefits. First-time travelers welcome; housing and travel reimbursements offered.

Qualifications

• Active AZ or compact RN license at time of application; pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum two years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Experience reading basic telemetry strips and post-cath/JOINT replacement care
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with ≥80% within two attempts

Responsibilities

• Work on the Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit (3rd Floor) with a 49-bed capacity
• Care for CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post-cath, total joint and telemetry patients
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5
• Interpret and document telemetry strips each shift
• Use Cerner EMR; prior experience helpful due to limited orientation
• Night shifts 7pm–7am; own weekends every other
• Possible float to East Campus/PCU if qualified
• No call or on-call responsibilities
• Wear navy blue scrubs
• Work a mix of days/evenings during holidays
• First-time travelers considered
• Dysrhythmia exam attempts limit may affect AZ/Sacramento work eligibility

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night position requiring an active AZ or compact license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute hospital setting on the Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit (3rd Floor) with a 49-bed capacity
• Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post-cath, total joint replacement, and telemetry patients
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5
• RNs are required to interpret and document telemetry strips at least once per shift
• Equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and capability for breathing treatments
• Uses Cerner EMR; prior experience recommended due to limited orientation
• Night shifts are 12 hours (7pm-7am) with self-scheduling and a requirement to work every other weekend
• Floating to East Campus and possibly PCU may be required if qualified
• No call or on-call responsibilities
• Responsibilities include caring for patients with complex medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions and accurately interpreting telemetry
• Team support includes Nurse Aides (1:10-15 ratio), Charge Nurse, and House Supervisor on site
• Orientation consists of one shift; strong previous experience is necessary
• Required to wear navy blue scrubs
• Must work a combination of days and eves during major holidays such as Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, as scheduled
• First time travelers will be considered
• RNs who do not pass the dysrhythmia exam within two attempts will be ineligible to work with this organization in AZ or Sacramento for six months

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license at time of application; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Experience reading basic telemetry strips, with exposure to CVA, TIA, and total joint replacement patients
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Cerner experience highly recommended
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past three years
• Copy of valid driver’s license required for consideration
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• May not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year
