The nurse will manage telemetry, titrate meds per protocol (e.g., Heparin based on PTT), and deliver high‑quality care to stroke, spine, and post‑op patients. BLS, NIHSS, IL license or application in progress, and 1 year of experience required.

Qualifications

• BLS (AHA) certification required.
• Active Illinois license or progress toward licensure.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience.
• Travel nursing experience preferred (not first-time travelers).
• Neuro Med Surg unit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) Nurse in the healthcare setting responsible for providing specialized care to patients with various medical conditions, including neurological, cardiovascular, and post-surgical needs. This role involves managing patients on telemetry units, ensuring safety, and administering treatments using advanced monitoring equipment.

Job Details

• Position Description: Responsible for delivering patient care on a Neuro Medical Surgical Acute unit with 54 beds, including stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, and head injury patients. The unit requires nurses with level 1 trauma experience, previous travel experience (excluding first-time travelers), and prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. Responsibilities include titrating drip medications such as Heparin based on PTT levels, troubleshooting telemetry monitors, and providing high-quality nursing care according to patient needs.
• Certifications & Education: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; Active Illinois license or confirmation that application has been initiated; minimum of 1 year of clinical experience.
• Schedule: Dayshift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information: The unit operates with a charge nurse and house supervisor on every shift. Nurses must be comfortable with telemetry and reading strips on Phillips monitors. RNs may be required to trouble-shoot high flow oxygen therapy for stable COVID-19 cases. Staff will participate in a 2-day orientation, including computer and unit-specific training, with a preceptor.
• Submission Requirements: Last four digits of Social Security Number, active Illinois license or confirmation of application process, understanding of the organization's drug-free policy, and acknowledgment of the orientation schedule.
