Job Summary
A Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Urology and Nephrology is sought for an assignment at a Level I trauma center. Located in a busy acute care hospital, this role involves providing high-quality patient care on a 25-bed unit with a focus on urology, nephrology, kidney transplants, and general medical/surgical cases. The position offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to complex patient management and recovery.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights (4x12 or 3x12 nights, 1845-0715), minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or in application process, BLS certification, at least 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, and recent experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma, community hospital setting, or with kidney transplant patients.
• Float: Float to other Medical Surgical units within scope may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • The unit handles approximately 23 patients daily, with diagnoses including urology/renal illnesses, kidney transplant, UTI, pneumonia, cellulitis, among others.
  • Procedures include continuous bladder irrigation, urinary catheter management, and post-operative kidney transplant care.
  • Required skills include IV therapy, blood product administration, chest tubes, PICC line management, and isolation precautions.
  • Cerner Electronic Medical Record systems experience is required.
  • Will work every other weekend with holiday coverage expected.
  • On-call is not required.
  • RTO restrictions allow up to 5 days; healthcare provider may cancel shifts, and the candidate may be called off up to 36 hours within the assignment period without penalty.
  • The role demands flexibility for floating within scope and adaptation to a busy, high-acuity unit.
