Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a Med Surg travel nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in Birmingham, AL. The RN should have 1-2 years of acute care experience and hold a BLS certification.

The role requires night shifts, 36 hours per week, and a travel position with potential tax-free stipends. The Nurse will perform bedside assessments, administer medications, manage dressings and IVs, and assist in discharge planning.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience
• BLS required (additional certs may be required)
• 13-week assignment with 36 hours/week

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications, reporting adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and care.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient education as prescribed.
