Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night assignment in Oregon. Candidates must have a valid Oregon RN license and BLS certification, with a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience. First-time traveler-friendly.

The role features a 52-bed Med/Surg unit, 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios, and MEDITECH EMR. CNAs support care; night schedule is three 12-hour shifts (1845–0715). Opportunities exist to transition to a permanent position.

Qualifications

• Active Oregon RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• First-time travelers welcome to apply
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references: one supervisor in last 12 months, one supervisor/peer in last 3 years, with dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 52 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on day and night shifts
• Patient population includes pneumonia, CHF, COPD, renal disease, sepsis, stroke, and overflow general surgical cases
• CNAs provide ADL and personal care support at 1:7 days and 1:11 nights
• Tele monitor techs read strips using Philips system; RNs verify rhythms
• Occasional use of CPAP and BiPap equipment
• Night shift: three 12-hour shifts from 1845-0715
• Weekend and holiday coverage as needed
• No mandatory call; standby up to three times or voluntary
• Floating to surgical floor and PCU as needed
• 2 charge nurses per shift; 2 break nurses
• Welcoming, family-like team atmosphere; many new grads
• Unit-specific orientation: two 12-hour shifts
• Any color scrubs; scrubs not provided
• Option to transition to permanent position if a good fit
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13 weeks
• Candidates must not have been employed directly by any CommonSpirit facility in past year
