Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Mitchell, South Dakota. This travel position runs 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts, with a 13-week duration and a Start Date of 11/16/2026.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of acute care experience and current BLS certification. The role involves direct patient care, medication administration, dressing changes, and patient-family education in a busy Med/Surg unit.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures.
• Participates in discharge planning and initiates patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
