Job summary

TotalMed RN in Peoria, IL is seeking a Travel Medical-Surgical RN for a 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week (12-hour nights). The RN must have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience and BLS.

Duties include bedside care, medication administration, dressing changes, catheter insertions, and IV starts, with patient education and discharge planning ongoing. Additional requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for long periods in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures.
• Participates in discharge planning and initiates patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
