Job summary

GHR Healthcare is seeking a travel Med/Surg RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana for a 13-week assignment. You’ll work 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts in a busy acute care unit, with Epic charting and orientation included.

This role offers travel benefits and exposure to a variety of patient conditions in a community hospital setting. The ideal candidate holds Indiana RN (or compact) license, BLS, and 1.5+ years Med/Surg or equivalent experience, with strong assessment and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license.
• Current BLS certification through AHA.
• 1.5+ years of Level I–III care experience.
• At least 1 year in a 450+ bed hospital.
• Experience on a general Med/Surg unit.
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts with weekend rotation.
• Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork.
• Comfort with EPIC charting and common acute care equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse adult patient population.
• Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate with the care team.
• Care for chronic/acute conditions such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, renal disease, infections, strokes.
• Support procedures like colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, minor surgeries.
• Manage IV therapy, feeding tubes, chest tubes, drips, wound vacs, and other Med/Surg interventions.
• Use EHR tools and unit equipment including EPIC, Pyxis, and telemetry devices.
• Float to other units as needed to support patient care across the department.
• Deliver safe, compassionate care in a fast-paced acute care setting.

Job Requirements

• Experience providing care on a general medical-surgical unit
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and rotate through weekend coverage as scheduled

• Comfort with EPIC charting and common acute care equipment

• Float to other medical units when needed to support patient care across the department
• Deliver safe, compassionate, and efficient care in a fast-paced acute care environment
