Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a Parkersburg, West Virginia assignment. This 13-week travel role requires 36 hours per week with 12-hour day shifts. The RN will perform patient assessments, administer medications, and educate patients and families in a fast-paced Med/Surg setting.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of acute care experience and BLS certification. Additional certifications may be required.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience (Med Surg RN).
• BLS certification required before starting assignment.
• Travel RN with Med/Surg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op cases.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and care plans.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate education plans as prescribed.
