American Traveler is seeking a Travel Ultrasound Technologist specialized in Maternal Fetal Medicine for a Raleigh, NC assignment. The role requires 3+ years OB/GYN or vascular scanning experience and ARDMS OB/OB-GYN registration.

Start date 10/26/2026; 13-week travel assignment with 40 hours/week and 8-hour days. The position involves performing advanced OB/GYN ultrasound exams, including detailed anatomy, fetal echocardiography, growth assessment, and 3D/4D imaging, with no on-call

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of OB/GYN or vascular scanning experience.
• Completion of a 12-month Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent certificate program.
• BLS certification required.
• ARDMS registration in OB and OB-GYN required.
• Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification preferred.
• License required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized maternal-fetal ultrasound exams including detailed anatomical evaluation, complete fetal echocardiogram, growth assessment, fetal wellbeing, biophysical profiles, maternal/fetal Doppler, and amniotic fluid assessments.
• Also perform needle procedure guidance, maternal pelvic anatomy exams including transvaginal cervical assessment, and advanced 3D/4D diagnostic techniques.
• Schedule consists of 4x9-hour shifts plus one 4-hour half-day on Friday.
• Adheres to radiologist guidance and communicates exam results to OB provider.

Details

• Outpatient maternal-fetal medicine clinic setting
• Performs specialized maternal-fetal ultrasound exams including detailed anatomical evaluation, complete fetal echocardiogram, growth assessment, fetal wellbeing, biophysical profiles, maternal/fetal Doppler, and amniotic fluid assessments
• Also performs needle procedure guidance, maternal pelvic anatomy exams including transvaginal cervical assessment, and advanced 3D/4D diagnostic techniques
• Schedule consists of 4x9-hour shifts plus one 4-hour half-day on Friday
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call requirement

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience performing complex OB/GYN or vascular scans
• Completion of a 12-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography/General Ultrasound or equivalent certificate program
• BLS certification required
• ARDMS registration required in OB and OB-GYN
• Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification preferred
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Assists radiologist in performing invasive diagnostic techniques specialized to maternal-fetal ultrasound
• Provides standardization and training to residents on these exam types
• Consults with patients and evaluates contraindications such as medications, insufficient preparation, or inability/unwillingness to tolerate the procedure
• Performs ultrasound procedures under general or direct physician supervision as defined by the procedure
• Analyzes sonography findings throughout exams to ensure comprehensive data collection for physician interpretation
• Recognizes situations requiring direct radiologist observation of real-time scans
• Advises radiologist and referring OB provider of exam results and preliminary diagnostic findings
