Job summary

MedPro Healthcare Staffing is seeking a travel LTAC registered nurse to join our Indianapolis team. This LTAC RN will provide specialized patient care on a 5–6 patient unit, with a 36-hour work week and 12-hour shifts.

The role demands vent/trach experience and the ability to read Tele-strips. You will work within a Joint Commission-certified staffing agency known for nationwide travel assignments and strong clinical support, with benefits including housing options, health insurance, and weekly

Qualifications

• Active RN license required.
• Degree from accredited nursing program.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Eighteen months of recent LTAC experience.
• Experience with vents, trachs, drips, EG tubes and able to read Tele-strips.
• Other requirements to be determined by client facility.

Responsibilities

• Care for 5-6 LTAC patients as part of the unit’s care team.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced LTAC setting.
• Monitor, administer medications, and adjust treatments as directed.
• Educate patients and families on procedures and post-care plans.
• Monitor telemetry and interpret vital signs, communicating changes.
• Support admissions and discharges throughout shifts.

Duties Responsibilities

• As part of the LTAC unit, Long Term Acute Care Nurses (RN) are responsible for caring for patients who require extended medical care.
• Provide care for 5-6 patients.
• Adjust and perform in fast paced environment
• Keep up with many admissions and discharges
• Be able to monitor and administer medications (orally, subcutaneously, and through an IV)
• Educate patients and family on surgical processes and how to manage their illness/injury
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and record and interpret electronic displays
• Interpret and understand telemetry readings, notifying appropriate medical team members of any irregularities
• Perform the duties required of a registered nurse at all times
• Care for patients with pulmonary HTN, respiratory failure, COPD, CHF, and A-Fib
• Use computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information
• Start IV’s, draw blood, see the patient from start to finish
