TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for LTAC Med Surg/Telemetry in Columbia, SC. The RN will care for patients with complex needs requiring extended hospital-level care, including ventilator and wound management.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year LTAC or high-acuity experience, BLS cert, and state licensure eligibility. This role involves interprofessional collaboration, direct patient care, and supervision of support staff across multiple shifts.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 1 year of RN experience in LTAC or similar high-acuity setting.
• Current BLS certification and eligibility for State licensure required.
• ACLS and other certifications may be required before assignment.

Responsibilities

• Perform head-to-toe assessments and promptly respond to changes in patient condition.

We're looking for Registered Nurses (RNs) for an immediate travel opening in an LTAC (Long-Term Acute Care) facility in Columbia, SC. The right RN should have at least 1 year of recent experience in a Long-Term Acute Care or similar high acuity setting. Read below for more requirements. As an RN in LTAC, you will care for patients with serious medical conditions who require extended hospital-level care. These patients often have complex needs such as ventilator support, wound care, or post-ICU recovery. You will be responsible for providing direct nursing care, monitoring patients' conditions, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery and discharge planning.

As an RN, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:

• Perform head-to-toe assessments and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer IV medications, manage central lines, and monitor vital signs and lab results
• Provide ventilator and tracheostomy care, as well as advanced wound management
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists, physicians, and case managers for ongoing treatment plans
• Support patients with mobility, hygiene, and nutritional needs
• Supervise LPNs and CNAs, ensuring proper patient care delivery
• Adhere to strict infection control protocols and facility safety standards
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and communicate patient status updates
• Document all care activities and interventions accurately and in real time
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge planning

The ideal candidate must have at least one year of experience as an RN in a Long-Term Acute Care setting. Additionally, they should possess a current BLS certification and be eligible for State licensure. Additional certifications may be required. RNs in LTAC should be adaptable, highly skilled in critical care practices, and passionate about supporting patients through complex and prolonged recovery.
