Job summary
Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a 13-week assignment in Austin, TX. This role offers 36 hours per week, 12-hour day shifts, and the chance to deliver high‑quality obstetric care in a dynamic travel setting.
The Labor and Delivery RN will assess maternal and fetal health, administer medications, support procedures, and collaborate with obstetric teams. Required qualifications include one year of L&D RN experience, current RN license, BLS, and
Qualifications
- One year recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- NRP certification required
Responsibilities
- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments per obstetric nursing techniques
- Prepare equipment and assist physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
- Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence-based protocols
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
- Comply with regulatory standards for obstetric nursing care
- Perform other duties within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
