Responsibilities

• Pre-Labor and Admission Assessment: Assess and monitor the health of pregnant women at various stages of labor, including vital signs and health histories.
• Labor Support and Monitoring: Monitor labor progress, cervical dilation, fetal heart rate, maternal vitals; administer medications as prescribed.
• Assisting with Delivery: Assist obstetricians or midwives during vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections; provide newborn care.
• Postpartum Care: Monitor mother and newborn postpartum, support breastfeeding, and provide education on recovery and newborn care.
• Documentation and Reporting: Record assessments, medications, and patient progress in the EHR; maintain accurate records.
• Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and other team members; communicate with patients and families.
• Infection Control and Safety: Adhere to infection control; ensure equipment sterility and proper functioning.
• Emergency and High-Risk Situations: Recognize complications; respond to obstetric emergencies with appropriate protocols.
