Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 16-week travel assignment in Asheville, NC. This role involves direct obstetric care, fetal monitoring, and collaboration with the obstetric team to ensure patient safety.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of L&D experience, an active RN license, BLS and NRP certifications, and is prepared for night shifts on a 12-hour schedule. Travel compensation includes benefits and support from a dedicated clinical team.

Qualifications

• One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN.
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• NRP Certification

Responsibilities

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with obstetric nursing techniques
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
• Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence-based protocols
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
• Comply with hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
• Perform other duties as assigned within labor and delivery nursing
