Job summary

GHR Healthcare is seeking a Labor and Delivery Travel RN for a 13-week contract in Freeport, Illinois. The role supports laboring patients, cesarean births, and postpartum care in a dedicated L&D unit with MEDITECH charting.

Requirements include active Illinois RN license, 1+ year L&D experience, BLS, and AWHONN certification. The schedule includes 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. shifts, weekends every other, with holiday rotation and occasional on-call shifts.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery RN experience.
Active Illinois RN license required prior to submission.
Current BLS certification.
Current AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced certification.
Experience caring for labor patients and neonatal/postpartum care.
Ability to titrate Pitocin and insulin infusions.
Knowledge of fetal monitoring systems.
Strong communication and patient-safety skills.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum phases.
Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond to changes.
Support vaginal and Cesarean births, including OR circulation and recovery.
Provide immediate newborn stabilization and couplet care.
Care for high-risk pregnancies (preeclampsia, diabetes, obesity).
Administer and titrate ordered therapies (Pitocin, insulin).
Collaborate with obstetric, pediatric, anesthesia and respiratory teams.
Document in MEDITECH per unit protocols.
Participate in weekend, holiday, call and emergency coverage.
