Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week acute care assignment in California. The role requires active CA RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and an advanced EKG dysrhythmia course. A minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Relias exam, and sterile technique testing are required.

Casual travel, with 12-hour shifts (7am–7pm) and 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios. Cerner EMR, unit float, and on-call coverage are part of the responsibilities; travel-friendly benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Advanced EKG dysrhythmia course certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required.
• Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation.
• Must pass sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation.
• Travelers are not permitted to take open heart or balloon pump patient assignments.
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration.
• Two professional references required: one supervisor within 12 months and one supervisor within 3 years, with dates and rehire eligibility.

Responsibilities

• ICU/CCU unit with 12 ICU beds and 12 CCU beds.
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2.
• Cerner EMR used for charting.
• 12-hour day shifts, 7am-7pm.
• Every other weekend required.
• Holiday coverage worked in rotation with permanent staff.
• Charge nurse available and does not take a patient assignment.
• No dedicated nurse aides on the unit.
• First to float among staff with 1:4 telemetry ratio.
• Floating to ER with orientation if desired.
• 24/7 in-house respiratory therapy and pharmacy support.
• No hospitalist/ent intensivist; physicians are independent.
