Job summary

Medical Solutions seeks a Travel ICU Registered Nurse to work in Pulaski, Virginia. This travel position covers 36 hours per week with 12-hour night shifts for a 13-week assignment, offering competitive weekly pay and benefits.

You’ll provide high-acuity care in the ICU, perform procedures such as intubation and arterial line monitoring, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. OT may be required based on patient needs.

Qualifications

Must have at least 2 years of critical care experience.
ACLS and BLS certifications required.
Willing to float to other units as needed.
Night shift availability and OT willingness are required.

Responsibilities

Provide ICU nursing care for high-acuity patients.
Perform intubation and arterial line monitoring.
Administer medications and manage ventilator support per protocol.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Tell us about the unit(s): Number of Beds - 8
Number of Staff – 12
Type of staff: Day Shift – 1 charge (charge nurse takes patients) and 2 nurses. No CNA’s, no monitor techs.
Night Shift –1 charge (charge nurse takes patients) and 2 nurse. No CNA’s, no monitor techs.
Patient Ratios – 2:1, at times 3:1 ( we do not have a PCU unit so we are often able to group 3 PCU pt’s together)
Type of equipment - GE monitors, Pyxis medication administration, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, Puritan Bennett Vents
EMR – Meditech- assessments every 4 hours, notes every 2 hours, VS every 1 hour if not more often
Must have: candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.
At least 2 years of critical care experience, ACLS, BLS
Willing to work OT
Outstanding communication skills and has a true understanding of the patient experience
Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first.
Wiliness to float to other units to help out (when the ICU census is low the staff in the ICU are floated to other departments, generally the Med-Surg dept)
PALS
List typical procedures performed on unit(s):
Intubation
CVP monitoring, Arterial line monitoring
ETOH and opioid detox
Smoke free campus
