Job summary

American Traveler, LLC is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a CCU night shift position located in Iowa. Requires IA or compact license with 3+ years CCU experience and 1+ year travel nursing background.

Responsibilities include managing titratable drips, monitoring telemetry, and working with a multidisciplinary team in a 6-bed CCU within a Critical Access Hospital (Trauma Level 4). Night shifts are 3x12 hours with a rotating weekend schedule.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (IA state or compact) required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA).
• Minimum 3 years CCU experience required.
• Minimum 1 year travel nursing experience required.
• BSN not required.

Responsibilities

• CCU unit within an acute care, Critical Access Hospital (Trauma Level 4).
• 6 CCU-level beds that flex to accommodate MedSurg Peds patients as needed.
• Nurse to patient ratio goal of 1:2, up to 1:4 depending on acuity and unit needs.
• Common diagnoses include CHF, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and DKA.
• RNs manage titratable drips such as Cardizem, insulin, and norepinephrine.
• RT coverage is daytime only; nights and weekends RNs manage Bipap, vents, and other RT needs with House Supervisor support.
• RT equipment includes CPAP, Bipap (V60), Vapotherm, and Hamilton vent.
• CCU nurses monitor their own telemetry with no dedicated monitor techs.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts on a 6-week cyclic schedule.
• Weekend rotation required every third weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun or flexible to Sat/Sun/Mon).
• Floating required to MedSurg Peds; cross‑training to Behavioral Health or ER optional.
• Uses MEDITECH EMR.
• Collaborate with a Charge Nurse overseeing both CCU and MedSurg Peds and a House Supervisor overseeing the hospital and nursing home.
• Patients are followed by private physicians; ER physician responds to codes/emergencies.
• Two 12‑hour shifts of unit‑specific orientation provided.
• Scrubs may be grey, black, pink, or white in any combination.
• Holiday coverage required based on contract season (one major and one minor holiday).
• Must be aware of and support unit quality initiatives and projects.
• Positive, team‑oriented culture with an emphasis on collaboration and support.
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• First‑time travelers may be considered.
