HealthTrust Workforce Solutions HCA is seeking a Travel Histology Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Nashville, TN. The role requires processing specimens for pathologist review, including frozen sections as needed. Work schedule is nights, 40 hours per week.

You will perform staining, embedding, microtomy, and quality control while maintaining accurate specimen labeling and documentation. Applicants should have ASCP MT/HT certification, required state licenses, and either histology

• National Certification as MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required.
• State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process specimens for gross and microscopic examination by a pathologist.
• Assist in preparation of frozen sections when needed.
• Perform histology and cytology procedures including processing, embedding, staining.
• Ensure accurate sample, block and slide identification throughout processing.
• Maintain stains and perform preventive maintenance on equipment per schedule.
• Apply QC/QA practices and document results for procedures and instrumentation.
• Train others and contribute to problem solving and decision making.

HealthTrust Workforce Solutions HCA is seeking a travel Histology Technologist for a travel job in Nashville, Tennessee.

You Will:

Prepare and process specimens for gross and microscopic examination and diagnosis by a pathologist. May assist in the preparation of frozen sections of surgical specimens for microscopic examination by a pathologist.

Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine and special stains in accordance with department procedures.

Assure positive sample, block and slide identification throughout the sample/slide preparation process

Prepare and maintain solutions for stains and histology procedures. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.

Utilize independent judgement and problem solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance. Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or elevate issues in a timely manner for resolution.

Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.

You Should Have:

High School Diploma AND minimum two years of histology experience

OR High School Diploma AND completion of an accredited program in Histotechnology

OR Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Biology AND one year of histology experience

OR Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry

National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required

State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV)

Thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes

Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples

Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist

Demonstrates good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens

General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements

Excellent communication, team work and organizational skills. Sets a positive example.

Ability to train others

Effective and proactive problem solving and decision making skills
