Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role at a Level I trauma center. Requires VA or compact RN license and Epic charting experience.

The role includes a day shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) with 3x12-hour shifts, and will involve floating within the ED as needed in a Level I trauma center that also treats stroke patients. Travel nursing experience and strong trauma care skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact state RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years ER experience required, Level I/II trauma preferred
• BSN preferred; diploma/Associate degree graduates accepted from ACEN/CCNE programs
• Epic charting system experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Pediatric and burn care experience preferred
• Trauma center experience highly preferred
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management experience
• Ventilator management including BiPAP/CPAP experience
• Continuous IV paralytics, sedation, and vasopressor experience required
• Procedural sedation administration experience preferred
• Triage experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Two professional references required

Responsibilities

• Level I trauma center emergency department duties
• Day shift 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend schedule
• Float within scope as needed
• Start times may include 7a or 11a shifts
• Care for stroke-certified Level I trauma center patients
• Care for psychiatric patients including holds
• Fingerprinting completed per Virginia Code 37.1-183.3 before start date
• Complete orientation modules through VCU Learning Exchange by orientation week end
• Work in a drug- and tobacco-free campus environment
• Background checks conducted for all candidates
• Local candidates accepted at base rate with no radius restrictions
• Traveler and permanent staff must be separated from VCU Health for one year before returning as traveler
