Qualifications

• 1+ year of recent experience in this specialty and setting.
• Valid nursing license as required by this state.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA recommended and may be required.
• Specialty-related certifications are preferred and may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assess a patient’s injuries or condition on arrival.
• Communicate assessment to physicians.
• Assist in implementing treatment plans and administering IVs, medications, and injections.
• Conduct EKGs and other triage elements.
• Understand discharge policies and government policies on treating, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Educate patients and families about home treatment.
