American Traveler is seeking an experienced Travel RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position in Charleston, West Virginia. You will join a hospital setting with a 24-bed ED, handling a wide patient population and high acuity trauma and psychiatric cases.

Requirements include WV or compact RN license, 2+ years RN experience (1 year ED), BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, IV start and telemetry. Night shifts, 4:1 patient ratio, no on-call, with travel/per diem benefits and licensure

Qualifications

• Active WV or compact RN license required; active license by start date.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience, with at least 1 year in the Emergency Department.
• Certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (scheduled/obtained prior to start if not already earned).
• Experience with IV start and telemetry is required.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position, requiring a WV or compact RN license and strong trauma and psychiatric care skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department within a hospital setting
• Level 1 Trauma Center with 24 beds
• Wide-ranging patient population from infants to geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• High acuity setting with significant trauma and psychiatric cases, as well as neurological, orthopedic, and renal emergencies
• Night shift position, working three 12-hour shifts (7 p.m. - 7 a.m.) on weekdays with every other weekend required
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• Blocked scheduling may be discussed during the interview
• No on-call requirements
• Responsibilities involve caring for trauma, psychiatric, and complex medical emergencies
• Significant high acuity and psychiatric patient volume; there is no separate psych area
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Permanent employees are not eligible to return as travelers for 2 years after last employed date
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, with case-by-case review for those residing 75-100 miles away
• Orientation/start date offered every other week on Thursday

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required; pending license accepted but must have active license by start date
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in the Emergency Department
• Certificates required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI (CPI must be scheduled/obtained prior to start if not already earned)
• Experience with IV start and telemetry is required
• COVID vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption
• Flu vaccination required during flu season unless documented allergy by a physician
