Key Responsibilities

As an Echo Tech, you will operate cardiac ultrasound machines, ensuring accurate image acquisition and reporting findings to physicians. You will also care for patients undergoing echo studies.

Tasks

• Educate patients and/or their family regarding procedures performed
• Demonstrate competence in performing echocardiographic studies
• Consistently perform quality Doppler and color Doppler exams
• Acquire quality stress echo and dobutamine images per physician and benchmark standards
• Perform quality trans-esophageal echocardiograms per physician expectations
• Understand cardiac disease processes and acquired images
• Report findings or concerns to the reading physician for prompt interpretation
• Perform all related processing required for each completed study
• Maintain equipment, including cleaning and disinfecting per department procedure, and identify problems with equipment and report appropriately
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Use the McKesson PACS system

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Echo Technologist
• BLS certification or equivalent and state-specific licensing when required
• ARDMS-RDCS or CCI-RS National Certification (additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment)
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean or stoop without difficulty
• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology
