Job summary

TotalMed RN seeks a travel nurse RN CVPICU in Seattle, WA for a 13-week assignment starting ASAP. This PCICU role demands 36 hours/week across 12-hour day shifts, with travel benefits and tax-free stipends where applicable.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year in PCICU or similar critical care, and hold PALS and BLS certifications with licensure eligibility. Join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-level pediatric cardiac care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ventilator management and airway support as needed
• Assist with cardiac interventions (IABP, external pacemakers, ECMO) as directed
• Communicate clearly with families, providing education and support
• Document assessments and interventions in the EHR
• Collaborate with pediatric cardiology, surgery, respiratory therapy and other teams

We're looking for Registered Nurses (RN) for an immediate travel opening in Seattle, WA for our Pediatric CardiacIntensive Care Unit (PCICU).

The right RN should have at least 1 year of experience in a PCICU setting. Read below for more details.

As a PCICU Nurse, you will provide critical care to pediatric patients with congenital or acquired heart conditions,working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-level care, monitor cardiovascular status, and supportfamilies through difficult times.

As a PCICU Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:

• Patient Care: Provide direct care to pediatric patients with cardiovascular conditions, including thoserecovering from heart surgery, congenital heart defects, or severe arrhythmias
• Monitoring & Assessment: Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and othercritical parameters. Assess patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately
• Medication Administration: Administer medications (including IV drips, blood products, and sedatives)according to protocol, monitor for side effects, and adjust dosages as needed
• Ventilator Management: Assist with ventilator management, including non-invasive and invasiverespiratory support, and ensure proper airway management
• Cardiac Interventions: Assist with procedures like intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), external pacemakers,or ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) as directed by the cardiology team
• Family Communication: Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients' families, updatingthem on their child's condition, care plan, and prognosis. Offer emotional support and education to familymembers
• Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to cardiac and respiratory emergencies, including code situationsand rapid interventions in acute cardiovascular distress
• Collaboration: Work alongside pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcareprofessionals in a collaborative environment to provide comprehensive care
• Documentation: Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, changes in condition, and familyinteractions in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Patient Education: Educate families and caregivers on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and signsof complications that may require attention

The ideal candidate must have at least one year of experience as an RN in a PCICU or similar critical care setting.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications are required. Additionalcertifications may be required. Must be eligible for state licensure.

PCICU Nurses should be able to stand or walk for long periods and must be able to bend, stoop, and lift with properbody mechanics. They should have exceptional critical thinking skills, strong communication abilities, and theability to provide compassionate care under pressure. They must be comfortable working with critically ill pediatricpatients and supporting families through emotionally challenging situations.
