Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or 3 years recent experience as a surgical technician in an acute care setting.
• Current CPR provider card.
• Minimum of eighteen months CVOR recent experience or clinical orientation for open-heart care.
• Knowledge of CVOR instrumentation for cardiac procedures, CABG and related procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs treatments per protocols.
• Scrubs, 2nd circulating, and 3rd person/Heart Holder CVOR roles.
• Picks supplies, sets up instruments, and performs instrument and sponge counts.
• Obtains specimens and hands to circulating nurse, verifies location.
• Facilitates room turnover time.
• Participates in department on-call schedule.

• Knowledge of CVOR instrumentation as it relates to specific cardiac surgical procedures and other procedures as needed.
