Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Travel CVICU RN for a 13-week assignment in San Antonio, Texas. This role involves providing critical care to patients in the ICU, utilizing advanced clinical judgment and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing changes in condition.
  • Administer complex medications and treatments.
  • Operate and manage advanced life support equipment.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Record significant conditions and interventions.
  • Perform and interpret advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Document all assessments in the medical record.
  • Provide education to patients and families.
  • Communicate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols.

Job Overview

Travel CVICU RN for a 13-week assignment in a San Antonio, Texas facility. This role focuses on providing comprehensive critical care to patients in the intensive care unit, leveraging advanced clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient safety.

Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as a CVICU RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
  • TNCC, NIHSS certification
  • Other certifications or licenses relevant to critical care
Responsibilities / Essential Work Functions
  • Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing and responding to subtle changes in condition
  • Administer complex medications and treatments in accordance with critical care techniques
  • Operate and manage advanced life support equipment
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort in high-acuity ICU environments, addressing physical and emotional needs
  • Record significant conditions, reactions, and interventions, notifying appropriate providers of changes in status
  • Perform and interpret advanced hemodynamic monitoring, including arterial lines, central venous pressure, and pulmonary artery catheters
  • Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record in a timely manner
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding the ICU environment, treatments, and recovery expectations
  • Communicate closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care
  • Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures through ongoing education and training
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to protect immunocompromised patients and reduce risks
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ICU outcomes and operational efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking and excellent interpersonal communication
  • English language proficiency for reading, writing, and following instructions
  • Proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities

Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.

Interpersonal Skills

Must work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintain a positive attitude, and display professionalism.

Technical/Motor Skills

Must perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move during procedures and equipment use.

Mental Requirements

Must cope with frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision when needed, and maintain continuous concentration on detail.

Sensory Requirements

Must possess visual acuity and effective communication skills.
